Stages Of Sleep

John Cratchley A concept album of sorts and perhaps slightly formulaic because of it...it has its moments of groove but can also meander at times...not a criticism, just an observation. They are a tight unit and well co-ordinated but I feel they want to spread their wings a little...perhaps on the next album they
will wake up a little more? Terrific potential though.

Dillon Ethier This will definitely put you to sleep (jazz, am i rite??). Just kidding, this album owns. It IS a bit meandering, but I consider that to be a feature, not a bug in this case. I prefer this one to Molecules for the sole reason that it's longer. Favorite track: REM Sleep.

Ed Buckley Modern jazz (yet again), this is a "concept" album that has a bit of an "edge" to it. It has some interesting time changes/ signatures, but the group spends more time playing "outside", and with more dissonance, than is my preference. If I were one to edit, I would excise perhaps a third of this. That said, I find the remainder to be excellent. They are a superb quintet in terms of ability, and this would appeal to many jazz fans. From Olga's collection (yet again). :-)
